Instrumentation
1. Individual student performance will be rated by an expert evaluator on the following tasks :
- student knows how to open computer and locate proper slot for network card
- student properly inserts and configures network cards and attached cabling
- student installs and configures network software
- student successfully performs a series of network tasks
- enables file and printer sharing on server
- sets up Microsoft Postoffice and e-mail clients on two machines
- connects to Server from Client machine and maps network drive
- sends sample e-mail message from one machine to another
- transfers specified file directory from one computer to another
- shares a printer cabled to one machine over the network and prints a document from the other machine
Performance on each task will be timed. The tasks will be graded on a pass/fail basis compared with student completion time. The observer will make marginal notes on the efficiency with which each task is executed.
2. Students in the “individual program” will be assigned to 4-person teams. Performance of all teams on enumerated tasks will be rated by the evaluator.
